My default approach is to look for proper-understanding-friendly people and environments, where unnecessary clarifications can easily be avoided. Even almost regardless of the given situation, I tend to expect an adequate understanding from virtually anyone; and this is saying something on account of my typical easy-going attitude.
On the other hand, I am quite adaptable and ideal conditions don't happen as often as I'd like. But I can easily go down the road of over-explanations as soon as needed. Something like explaining a joke may be a bit sad, but (as unfortunately proven to me too many times) way sadder outcomes could occur otherwise, especially when certain type of people (or, as I call them, "people") are around.
In any case, I am respectful, tolerant and always try to understand others. I think that a direct, open and clear communication is the best way to solve any problem. And I will always be ready to discuss with anyone about anything.
